Typical job boards may be open to the world, but AFP's Global Careers site is tailored to the AFP membership, with key postings appearing in AFP's weekly newsletter and featured on the job pages at afponline.org and corporatetreasurers.org.
This month, we are reporting a dramatic expansion.
The site's navigational heading is changing to Global Careers on the afponline.org site because it now includes listings from gtnews, our London-based subsidiary. Next month, the site will expand to include bobsguide, AFP's financial technology site, also in London. The site will have the ability to draw jobs from worldwide readers on all three sites, and to transact business in multiple currencies.
Job seekers can post resumes, browse jobs, and learn about featured employers. There even is a feature that lets you create an RSS feed to be sent to your email, news reader, or Google home page whenever a new posting appears that fits your particular wish list of traits.
Naturally, your CV should mention your CTP credential, which employers increasingly are seeking. We see the CTP listing as a prerequisite on job postings here and in a multitude of newspaper and job board advertisements.
Recruiters, too, are aware of the quality of AFP members. One recruiter at U.S. Bank described the AFP candidate pool the best and the brightest.
"Our recruiting ratios are some of the highest when utilizing this source," the recruiter said.
Craig Martin, AFP's director, treasury practice lead, decided to take this knowledge a step further and has invited the best financial recruiters in the world to tap into the job site's users. The goal is to match the best talent with the most appropriate positions. "Sometimes, recruiters know that a company is looking for a new executive, but they may not be ready to post that job yet. AFP can help bridge that gap by putting the best financial recruiters in the world in touch with the best candidates," Martin said. He added: "Many of AFP's most senior-level members are accustomed to working with Julianne Franck with the Corporate Treasurers Council. Julianne is also available to answer questions associated with the Global Careers site, especially those related to recruiters."
As always, employers can access a resume database and post logos at no extra cost. They can draw attention to particularly hot jobs with a "featured job" enhancement. "Companies seeking additional prominence to attract the best candidates should look into becoming featured employers," Martin said.
Clearly, there are more candidates now than there were before the financial crisis, but there are also a host of new opportunities, with positions at the treasurer and assistant treasurer at some very prominent companies.
Employers continue to use the service for one simple reason - it works. "We posted an ad with the AFP Career Center and received a very large response of qualified professional candidates. Ultimately, the candidate we hired was from this resource. We were very happy with our investment," said Kim Jones, a senior human resources representative from Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc.
